Spiritual Direction

As you journey with God, are you interested in meeting with a Spiritual Director?

The stresses, trials and joys of life have given me opportunities to know God more deeply and to notice how my faith is indeed precious and genuine (1 Pet 1:6-7). Spiritual directors have led me to pause and notice God at work in the present moment, inviting me gently to listen to my own heart and increase my capacity to discern the Holy Spirit’s voice.

Living outside the US for more than 20 years, serving alongside people of other cultures, backgrounds and generations has opened my heart to many ways God is at work in the world. He is lovingly active in places with little gospel witness and great challenge. He is at work in the quiet space of a single beloved person’s heart.

Spiritual direction provides time to pause in prayerful reflection with another person, at times in silence together, to be present with and listening to God. The practice facilitates spiritual formation, the way God is forming us into the image of Christ through the Holy Spirit. I’ve experienced both reflective times in groups and personal meetings with spiritual directors, and desire to participate with God in supporting others in this way.

Spiritual direction is “the practice in which, with another, we pay attention to the Triune God in this formation work, growing in responding to him in an ever-more intimate relationship of love.” – Susan Currie, Selah

“Christ does not simply want our compliance. He wants our heart. He wants our love and he offers us his. He invites us to surrender to his love.” – David Banner, Surrender to Love

I offer contemplative spiritual direction conversations through in-person meetings, on Zoom or in combination. As God leads in your own prayer, you are invited to reach out for a conversation to explore and learn more. You can email me at kasedlacek@gmail.com.

Education

After receiving an MA Cross-cultural Ministries, I have served with my husband and family for several decades in cross-cultural ministry, living in Japan and the Czech Republic. We are currently based in the Chicago area. I’m receiving spiritual direction training through Leadership Transformations’ Selah Certificate Program with ongoing faculty supervision.

Investing in Spiritual Growth

My relationship to directees is a ministry, as well as a professional service worth investing in, and my desire is that finances won’t prohibit your experience of spiritual direction. We welcome and are grateful for donations based on what you desire and are able to contribute through TEAM, The Evangelical Alliance Mission. More information can be found at team.org.

Joyfully with you in the Spirit,

Kathy
